The GA-52Cx metal detector can detect an empty pipe down to a depth of 1.5 meters! The instrument reacts only to magnetic materials such as iron & steel but not to copper, brass, aluminum or other non-magnetic metals. The instrument has two sensors, balanced so that the earth's magnetic field does not affect the instrument. As long as this balance exists, the frequency of the audio signal in the built-in speaker is 40 Hz. When the magnetic field from an iron object under the ground is stronger at one sensor than the other sensor, the frequency of the audio signal increases. When the tip of the GA-52Cx is centered over the target, the frequency of the sound is highest.
The GA-52Cx is very robust and easy to use, just two adjustment knobs, On/Off Sensitivity knob and Volume control are protected on the bottom of the electronics box. GA-52Cx weighs only 1.2 kg. The rod section (not the electronics box) can be submerged under water without damaging the instrument.
